Productivity counselling: The new org psych for women in small business

Reading time: 3 minutes

So, this week I decided to change my mind. I know – so unlike me! The focus of has changed and we are now in the business of productivity counselling. Don’t worry – I will explain!

I recently came across a very interesting presentation by an organisation by the name of Sparks and Honey. I find it difficult to explain to people exactly what they do, but this is how they describe it:

We bring together people and platforms with the sole mission of helping brands and organisations become culturally relevant. Drawing upon dozens of data sources, global scouts, experts, creators, and advisors in real-time, we radically improve the speed and relevance of creative ideas, product development, and innovation, helping brands and organisations react, adapt, and propel themselves INTO THE FUTURE.

So, anyway, their presentation was called ’20 Jobs of the Future’ and included careers that both exist now and that are yet to, jobs such as digital death managers, digital detox therapists, meme agents and drone pilots. Some of these sounded absurd, but some fascinating, as you consider how the cultural landscape is changing so rapidly.

One particular job, though, caught my eye straight away (maybe because it was the first thing on the list) – productivity counsellor. Here’s Sparks & Honey’s description:

With the emphasis on productivity and ‘making a difference’, coupled with new tracking technologies, people will need help refining their lives to improve their productivity, combining ergonomics, wellness, time management and career counselling.

It was if they had entered my brain and collected all the things I absolutely love!

My absolute top value is time – it always has been. And I’m a stickler for all things efficiency, effectiveness and productivity. That’s how my business started out, and that’s how it’s going to continue into the foreseeable future. I’m passionate about helping micro and small business women (not that they’re tiny or small – their businesses are!) to make an even bigger difference in the world, as well as for themselves and in their own lives. I started this business because I wanted to help business women make the most of their time.

We all have the same amount of time. Time is finite – it’s limited – we can’t make more of it. But we can choose the way we spend it. I’m passionate about helping people live the life of their dreams. This means different things to different people. For some, it means having a thriving business, as well as a dream life outside of this, but many people struggle to have both. I believe women, especially, can have both, can have it all, if taught the right thinking and strategies. They deserve that. And what’s more, they should be spending their precious time making a difference in the world by doing things that are a perfect fit for their strengths, values and lifestyle goals.

There are so many brilliant women out there who have so much to offer the world, their families and themselves. The world needs more people who are living in alignment with their values and strengths. Everyone deserves to live their dreams, but to do this, we must ensure that we are always using the time available to us in the very best way we know how.

I envision a world where women are empowered to know themselves so deeply that they always choose to serve others from a space of pure authenticity. They are intelligent and innovative, and responsible for so much of the amazing work that happens in this world, and hence need to continue to be supported in this. They are highly successful in their businesses, family lives, health and in their lives in general. Women know what they want and they go after it – they don’t waste time!

I am so excited to be able to share everything I know about productivity, time management, career development and wellness from this point forward. There is just so much we can learn to turn our micro and small businesses into extreme forces for good, and my hope is that I can assist you in achieving this for your business, also.
